The winner of this split test was Version B: The sales letter without a salutation, but with a headline graphic "Internet Marketing Goldmine." It outpulled Version A by 3 to 1!
Notes:
- There were minor formatting differences with the text (bolding, on Version B) that also may have had some influence on the results.
- My theory why Version A won: People likely suspect a sales pitch coming when they see a salutation, or possibly assume it's going to be a very long pitch, and thus put up more sales resistance. But theories and guesswork don't count of course, which is why we should test.
